An island, a map, a mystery. On the Brissago Islands, your treasure hunt begins! Exotic plants and the magic of Lake Maggiore… who will find the hidden clues?

“Mum, look! I found something! Maybe it’s one of the clues left by John the parrot!?” “It might be! Come on, let’s take the map and see where it leads us. Maybe we’ll find Captain Morgan!”

Wonder shines in their eyes as they discover something new. And you, parents, smile too: this is not just a walk, it’s a real treasure hunt! With a map in hand and plenty of curiosity, you explore the paths of Isola Grande together with your children, right in the heart of the Botanical Garden of the Brissago Islands’ Botanical Garden.

As soon as you boarded the boat in Ascona and arrived on the island, you knew it: today an unforgettable adventure awaits you, filled with nature, fun and imagination. Across two and a half hectares, plant worlds from every corner of the globe unfold before you: azaleas, camellias and rhododendrons transport you to Asia, whilst Japanese banana trees and giant bamboo whisk you away to the Far East. Amidst African lion’s tails, American yucca and fragrant eucalyptus trees, your little explorers follow the clues and lead you on a quest to find John the parrot.

And while you look for the clues left by John the parrot, you also travel back in time: to a period when this island was a medieval monastery, later transformed into a green paradise. The palace from the 1930s, the sunlit terrace, the swimming pool overlooking the lake: every corner has a story to tell.

But now, back to the adventure: the map leads you to the final clues. Follow them and let yourself be surprised by the magic of this treasure hunt. What a wonderful adventure in search of John!
